Course logistics

Timing

The half marathon will be chip timed. Your time will start as you cross the starting line (so it won’t matter if you’re in the back of the pack!) and stop as you cross the finish line. The timing chip will be attached to the back of each runner’s bib. Runner bibs must: 1. Be attached to the front of the runner’s shirt 2. Be visible 3. Not be altered or tampered with.

Safety

Course and traffic will be monitored and controlled by the local police department.  However, please run with extreme caution to ensure your safety, and the safety of those around you.  Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) will be available and will have a centralized location that will be convenient for rapid attention.  If using musical devices (MP3 players, etc.), please be extra careful and aware of your surroundings.  Participants run at their own risk.

Clothing

The bag you receive at packet pickup will be labeled with your bib number and will act as your gear bag for collection at the start line. There will be a location designated for bags to collect at the park upon completion of the race. There will be a clothing drop off bin at first aid/water station #1. These items will be transported back to the park and placed in a pile for participants to sort through and retrieve later. Any clothing along any other part of the course route will be considered a charitable donation to Deseret Industries. Volunteers will not be able to keep track of clothing or other items left along the route or aid stations for runners at the finish line.

Pacers

We will have pacers to help you maintain your speed and meet your half marathon timing goal. Pacers will hold yellow signs above their heads with the time of their expected finish chip time. The times below are the target finish times we’ll have available with our pacers: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, and 2:30.

Mile Markers

Each mile will be marked throughout the course.

Aid Stations

There will be 4 aid stations along the course at mile 3, 6, 9 and 11 with Gatorade and water. Bathrooms will be available at the start, finish, and at every aid station.  In addition, there will be First Aid kits at every aid/water station.
